A little history on myself......first, I never intended to mass produce dog litter
boxes! I am a registered nurse, B.S.N. and I also hold a Master's Degree in
Education. My beloved pug Rascal had passed away at the ripe old age of 14
and a half. I adopted a new pug, who I named Violet. I knew that I wanted to litter
box train her since I would work 12 hour shifts and I was tired of buying
expensive and messy "pee pee" pads or costly dog litter that was "play material"
for her!

I had purchased a "tray type" of a litter box on the Internet. I was so disappointed
when the product arrived! My puppy Violet attempted to use the litter box, but half
the time her little back end would hang over the edge of the one inch "tray" litter
box and I still was coming home to messes. I quickly realized that if Violet had
been a male dog, the problem would be only worse. There was no depth or lip to
contain the mess.

I just knew there had to be changes in the litter box that I had purchased for my
puppy, Violet. I also realized that not only did I have the need for a cost effective,
functional and durable litter management system for my puppy, but that other
dog owners had the same desire as I had. To simplify their lives as dog owners,
to save money on the purchasing of "pee pee" pads, and most importantly have
a humane solution to their pet's elimination needs, I believed that there had to
be a better litter box and I was on a mission to find one. Easier said then done.
That is why I developed the Rascal Dog Litter Box.

I wanted to make the box appealing to the dog. I searched to find a realistic
grass that could be placed into the litter box. I wanted a product that would
simulate grass and would be soft on a puppy's paw pads.

As a long time dog owner, I am saddened by the number of dogs that are turned
into shelters each year because they were not properly housebroken. Petowners
place unrealistic demands on their dogs and puppies. Most humans can not
hold "it" for 8 - 12 hours. Why we anyone place this demand on their pet?

I applied for a United States Patent to secure my idea. I then sold several Rascal
Dog Litter Boxes to my friends and nurse colleagues and I have not looked back
since. I know that when I leave my home for hours, that Violet will not have to
wait anxiously for my return, nor do I have to come home to puddles and piles.
